Took the Saab for mot yesterday and sailed through no advisories. Took the Zed today and everything was well until the emissions test. Flat fail! :(. No advisories otherwise. Co reading which has to be below 0.2 was 0.54% so far to high. Been on pm's with our resident mot tester @t-tony and we're going to have a go at a cat cleaner, a good blast and run it back in for a re-test. I'll let you know the outcome!:thumbsup:

Good news and bad news Dave. Good for the Saab, bad for Reggie, :(should be OK soon though;)

I'm sure you will get sorted. I hear you have had some practice in giving Reggie a good blast.

Hope the cat cleaner works @Grumpy. I had similar readings and tried the Forte stuff which no doubt Tony has recommended. Unfortunately a single dose didn't work for mine - so changed the cat and Lamda sensor which was on the `to do' list anyway - one or both of them sorted it - will never know which as we couldn't get the old sensor out.

Result!!!

I've got a spare lambda in the shed which I could change at the same time. How far will this stuff reduce the emissions if it is at fault??

@t-tony is the man to answer that. Getting the old sensor out can be a pain - couldn't move mine even with cat off the car. Is your spare sensor OEM quality - if not you could create more problems.

So I have been reliably informed Dave. Now don't go and have another grump. How is the recuperation going?
Couldn't have been from Moz or Bill could it! That's the only time I've ever really opened it up, they are a pair of old grasses lol! Doing well Brian thanks. Had second op last week and last couple of days have been much better. Just started to leave the house again, under supervision tho! @jue1 is very strict about it!!!

I don't know jonco, I bought it from a breakers this time last year as it struggled to get through the emissions then but didn't need to use it in the end.

I add a cleaner to every tank fill and have in all my fuel injected/cat equipped cars and although we don't have yearly testing I'm convinced it is a great help in reducing emissions and gets better fuel economy as the injectors are always being cleaned! JMHO JIM

Can't be cheap Jim to keep adding additive into the tank. A small bottle of cataclean is £13 a bottle.

No we have a store brand that comes in a pre measuring bottle for about £3. Put it in a Volvo I'd just bought and watched as the speedo needle crept up as the tach needle fell lower. Been using it for about 15 yrs and never had an injector or cat problem. Get about 15 fills out of a bottle so keep one in each car, figure what I save in fuel milage pays the cleaner!! Win win! JIM

Ours nearly always fail on the emissions :p
Hope your Z passes soon ;)

Well if you drove it like it was meant to be driven you probably would'nt have an emissions issue. I don't and you know how i drive Dave

I just had to do a speed awareness course Bill! I can't afford to do another lol! Did you 3 ever fail on emissions?? :racecar:

Never Dave. It never even came close
