Before I commit any more money to the 2.2 project I've had INPA on to check all the error codes.

I had a predictable range of air bag and wheel sensor issues which I'm fairly confident are non-serious and I can sort out.

The engine codes were as follows:

18 EWS Signal or Camshaft Sensor (MS43) [Expecting to change camshaft sensor after checking for loose connections first]
47 Temp Sensor -Downstream of Pre-Cat or Torque Limitation Level 1 (MS43)
120 Plausibility Pedal Sensor or TPS [Expecting to change throttle body or pedal sensor after checking for loose connections first]

I can't find out exactly what the error 47 refers to ??

I suspect it's an oxygen sensor but I'm not sure which one. Any ideas?

I used to get a throttle position sensor error quite often on my 2.0, can't remember exactly what code it was but after a good clean up of the throttle body it never came back so maybe that's worth a try before spending any money on a new throttle body or sensor.

Yes, I'll give the throttle body a clean. Because it doesn't actually have a sensor on an M54 does it so the whole throttle body would have to be changed out otherwise. No idea what that entails - not done that one before.

Still looking for ideas on the error 47 if anyone can help. Thanks.

Spent 2 hours last night trying to find anything on this blasted error 47. Bentley doesn't mention it. A few but not all sites with error code listings show it. And I only found one place where the P-Code version (P1605) was indicated, albeit for a Mini. Can't find any notes in the P-Code databases that give you practical steers on what the issue is.

So it's starting to feel like a mythical beast. No one discusses the error. And few people even admit to the existence of it!

Help! The error again is:

47 Temp Sensor -Downstream of Pre-Cat or Torque Limitation Level 1 (MS43)

Could anyone make a reasoned guess on what this might refer to? Stating the obvious I thought cat sensors but you'd expect them to have different and more obvious codes?
