Near side rattle

Long shot but on recent drives out with my 2.8 I’ve noticed a rattle coming from the near side underside of the car whenever I go over a bump in the road. I’ve jacked the car up but can’t find anything obvious in front or rear suspension or the exhaust. Any ideas?

I had a similar rattle on mine and it turned out to be a loose heat shield that only made noise on bumps. Might be worth giving those a closer look even if they seem fine at first glance.

Gently pull the handbrake up when you next expect it to rattle, see if it goes away. Quite common rattle point on the rear of a Z3.

Thanks, I’ll have a closer look. Attachment nuts/studs look pretty rusty, could you tighten yours?

Have you checked rear shock absorber top mounts. I had rattle at rear of car that I couldn’t pin point (after removing all trim from rear of my Coupe, a job in itself) found top mounts absolutely shot. Replaced with Rogue top mounts so I didn’t have to remove trim again as now got access from inside whee arch.
