New front tyres

Bought my last set of tyres (fronts incidentally) from Tyreleader and had them fitted at a local company (cost about £30 or so). Was recommended them by @Lee who has used them a lot. Process worked well enough, ordered tyres on a Sunday afternoon arrived by Thursday.

Went with Vredestatein Ultrac Sessantas which took a few hundred miles to scrub in properly.

Thanks for the heads up, currently michelins on the rear, same as the front, but they are much newer, whilst front have an 09 date stamp. further digging on review sites was not 100% positive

@simonlincs, where abouts in Lincolnshire are you. I work at a tyre house in Lincoln and I would be happy to get you a quote to see if we're competitive, when I get back from Florida in a weeks time.:)

Tony.

Having changed 12 tyres in the last 12 months I would be interested in the results of this - I have always found tyre leader to be the winner hands down without doubt. Even the back street garage I use to fit them always say they can beat it, but never can.

FYI... the back street garage is the usual, opportunist, type who has a mate with a cousin... etc etc etc....

Thanks Tony, actually gone for mytyres with 5% discount @68.30 each, will have them fitted by local company. Powerflex arrived today, hopefully fitting on thursday. The car is my wife's and so keen to get it sorted asap, it will be interesting to see the impact of each change, good to get the advice and thoughts

Update

Good news, it wasn't the lambda sensor, just perished vacuum pipes for the EML fault

Powerbushes fitted for £55.20

Adam at Colin Woods is just a star and knows BMW's inside out

not such good news powersteering pipe leaking

part number 32411094452

delivery November :wideyed:

so if anyone knows where I can track down this part slightly more quickly, I would be very grateful

Goodyears on next week, all round

So far, the steering seems tighter, but will await feedback from my wife as to if the tram lining has diminished

cheers
Simon

Simon, I have a 2.8 running falkens all round Which people seem to like on the Zed's. I also have a strut and chassis brace and it still tram lines like a pig! I think improvements can be found but you'll struggle to ever get rid of it completely.

Hi Grumpy,

I am beginning to realise that it will be a 'characteristic' of the car, currently more concerned with this power steering issue, my wife won't need to worry about tramlining if she cannot drive it :(

so far found a part on a Romanian site but would rather find a more local solution:)

Glad you've seen my post on .net re the power steering let us know how you get on as could be a useful source as all have corroded pipes to some degree.

Our Z3 used to tramline. But once i put the conti sports on it seemed to stop. Have used contis since and never had an issue regarding tramlining

OK, Powerflex gave a massive improvement, 50% better said my wife, just had the Goodyear eagles fitted, its like a totally different car, I now steer it rather than fight the direction it wants to go, will be interesting to see how my wife finds it on her way to work this week, but for me its cured and I am much happier with her driving it.
Powerflex £49.00, Fitting £54, Front Tyres £68 + £10 fitting
thanks for all the input, hoping Pirtek can now manufacture a new pipe, every dealer I have tried says Nov 2015.

good to be onboard

Simon
