well just taken the zed to get a respray on everything but the roof, the paint shop were loving the original turkish green colour, so hopefully it will look amazing when i get it back next week.

Oh, and the reason i decided to paint as bird droppings had killed the paint, in some places taken it down to metal. Thats outdoor living for you , and general neglect. (not by me)

Wot? You found a paint shop prepared to do a whole car? There's gotta be half a dozen paint shops within a 5 mile radius of where I live and every one of them says they're fully booked till next year - but ask them to spray a bumper or a corner and they're all over it.

They can charge an arm and a leg to do a corner - but doing a whole car? That's too much work - not enough profit for the length of time it takes.

Yes I found a good body shop about 15 miles from me, ex bmw painter
He's rang me already asking if I want the sills painting inside as well, so it' sounds like he's stripped the car which is good . He wants me to video call tomorrow showing progress .

So far so good I suppose . Price wise I will say when it's done . Not exactly cheap though .

Exactly.

Your Turquoise Green zed will look fantastic with some fresh paint.
My Turquoise Green has a decent condition paint looks great when cleaned and waxed cant wait to see the finished pictures.

Cheers buddy, I really can't wait . I'm kinda hoping the money spent is well spent, even tho I'm not selling it .

It'll look brilliant until you get the first stone chip on the bonnet ;) . Ask me how I know:whistle:

Tell you what may be a worthwhile thing to add once paint is done and properly cured is get ppf added to the front and and lower rear quarters as these are the bits that always get road rash the worst that will then protect your paint investment.
Stephen

I can"t afford a new paint job with only my retirement check as income, and bird dropping stains and water spots don't seem to wax out, so I'm looking at other options. One of my gearhead friends said equal parts vinegar and water will work on water spots, and if that doesn't help I'll try rubbing compound and a good wax job, and live with the results...

just an example of what i faced last year, polishing did do ok, just the paint was eaten. The bonnet had some of the worst pain damange it had gone through to metal in a few places. no pics though

If you've got access to a rotary or DA polisher go for a mild compound on a medium pad with light pressure

I have a polisher, just need to get an applicator pad (somehow lost mine in the black hole that is my shop). Thanks Andy, I 'll give it a try.

Meant to say, before you use your polisher make sure the paint is as clean as it can be with a good wash and decontam with a clay bar.

Today's progress .I'm impressed
When I get it home I will reveal how much .😗
