Took hours for 6.5 L. Dont know if mine is working properly. !

That's only way to empty the sump on an early Smart car, there is no drain plug. Yes that's how long especially if you didn't get the engine good and hot beforehand.

I did my son's S2000 recently and it took only about ten minutes with an electric pump. Hot oil though...

If you have warmed the oil with a 10min drive, 15 mins max, has always been that on the e39, e34, skoda etc, normally the time to go and put the kettle on and make a cup of tea, just remember to pump if manual every so often.
