I have an OBC fitted to my Zed, but it doesn't work. I wondered if anybody has had experience of how to remove and repair them. Checked the fuses and they're OK, but other than that, I haven't got a clue!

The whole unit comes out forward had to replace mine when i brought the Zed as it only showed a ppp error that would not clear. I think there is 1 maybe two fuses that feed it.

Hi could it just be the bulb that lights the display ?.:banghead:

Yep, I have seen this reported before.

The whole unit comes out forward had to replace mine when i brought the Zed as it on.lt showed a ppp error that would not clear. I think there is 1 maybe two fuses that feed it.

Yep, The enitre console needs to be removed unless you have double jointed, double jointed wrists, the OBC is fixed to the back of the facia plate with two screws, a bit of a pig of a job if I'm being honest. The OBC can be replaced with a second hand unit without any hassle once removed, as you have the wooden facia kit installed the faceplate of the original OBC can be retained if you do have to replace the unit.

Mine was just a push fit with two plastic lugs that you squeeze as said its a pain to remove ! i managed to get my hand up the side of the console between it and the carpet and it pushed out heres my old one.....

As said by brian the face of the obc will unclip so you can retain you fascia

Thanks for all your replies and advice. The fuses are OK so will try changing the bulb first. Looks like I will have to loosen off the centre console to gain some room behind and see if I can push it out. Failing that I may just change it for a clock rather than an inaccurate computer!

Speaking as someone that has removed the entire console on my Z3, it's a ballache.

Did that lot used to be a car Gaz?
Parts of 2 different ones... I was starting to sweat a bit at that stage, soo many screws and clips.

You end up with sooo many bits :p

I think I may just stick a piece of paper on the front with some numbers on. Probably be more accurate! =))

Yeah I actually have a little pot full of random fixings from all the zeds. :)

You can actually recalibrate these OBC on the zed so that they are very close to your actual mpg.

I will do a little digging but it's all done through button presses and changing a few values
