Having attempted to try the short way of removing the differential mounting bush I've discovered that the metal housing the original bush won't shift while the whole thing is in situ. Heat, dremmel and sheer brute strength has done nothing but slightly hurt its feelings!!!
So I'm having to go down the long winded route of removing the diff mount cover bolts.

I've previously replaced the fluid so am unwilling to replace the 2 bolts for filling and draining.

Can anyone tell me
A. Parts needed once the diff cover is off?
B. Who can supply and deliver them?

This has not been a good day so please excuse my abruptness.:arghh:

Hi are you sure it won't come loose? I just done mine last night , did you drop it low enough? My exhaust was keeping mine up

The rubber has come out, but the metal surrounding it is stuck fast. The powerflex bush won't go in while the metal that housed the original bush is there.....unless it just stays there??

The remaining metal ring needs to come out. Cut the metal ring carefully with a hacksaw blade or dremel maybe twice to take a section out you should be able to slide or lever it out then.

The dremmel is too fiddly to do it carefully, I've already cut into the main holder but not by much and certainly not to seriously damage it. I'll try with a hacksaw blade, the only problem is that I'll have to wait until Monday as there is nowhere near me.
Where do people get their parts from though, I'd normally go to Williams but without a car it's not easy to get to. Never realised just how much you rely on a car round here...!

Yep, carefully cut through being careful not to nick in to the casing, the metal part will then come out. Good luck

Yes cut with hacksaw.... I then got chisel and knocked it out it looked like this

I've just dug out the Shed invoice.
They used Ninety 9 Ltd.
PFR5-300 Powerflex rear diff bushes
For my 2.2i 2002 Z3

Yep. Remove the rubber bush. Then a hacksaw blade with no handle to cut the ring out. Just wrap a cloth around where your holding it. I've got mine to do but have been informed this is the longest part of the process.

You can remove the blade , put through the bush housing hole then reinstall the hacksaw to the blade.. There is enough room for it and it saves your fingers, this is hoh I did mine

Hacksaw a slot and then chisel /punch out the ring

Get the powerflex from eBay, seems to be cheapest on there

:thumbsup:Thank you all.
I decided not to sleep, eat or drink until the thing was out. In the end I used heat, a chisel and a hammer. Didn't stand a chance!!
I also changed the anti roll bars and the rear drop links using the guide on here. Dropped the spare tyre carrier and the exhaust. The hardest part was trying to get the Lemforder drop links on to the bar. Took me about 2 hours!!
It was needed, no annoying clunk. The powerflex bushes have made a difference but I'll know more when I've driven it over a long distance.
A quick question though....when I dropped the car down there was quite a loud creak on the rear passenger side. I haven't heard it since and driving seems ok. I pressed down on the suspension but no noises.
Was the noise just the drop links adjusting?

I'm going to tackle the front ones next weekend, my shoulders are shot to pieces after this one.

Thanks again all for your help.;)
