POSSIBLY SELLING

I know they use fuel, just hoped for around 30. But as I say, I'm gonna use my bike for work, and then I can enjoy the car on the weekends. I need to get on a cruise and let somebody have a go/check if anythings a miss. But it shouldn't be.

Connor.
May just need a service and set up, could be running a tad rich?

I would think Connor that once you have had the car for a while you'll find that you have gotten used to how much extra fuel it uses. It's bit like having a baby they're a big expense at first but you learn to live with it and get used to the added cost. Also like a mortgage too, I don't know how it happens, it just does. Really happy to hear you're keeping the car too mate.:):):)

Been for a runout over to castleton today and managed 26mpg so quite happy with that. The suspension front right is squeeking going over bumps, not too sure about that..

Connor.

Most likely a bush or a ball joint Connor, a bit of lubrication hopefully will stop that.

Tony.

Sending it off for the front discs and pads doing, will mention it to him. I wish I had the confidence/a drive to have a go at these little jobs.

You're only an hour away from me Connor, if you want to have a go yourself with a little help I'm back in the UK mid October?:)

I might take you up on that offer Tony, I am going to Berlin this weekend so want the car sorted before I take it to the airport.
But there are a few jobs I want to have a go at.

Connor.

The offer stands mate. Just get your guy to make sure it's safe to use in the time being, which I'm sure it is. Jim wouldn't have been haring around in that car if he wasn't sure it was safe to do so. Enjoy Berlin and the Music mate.:D

I think you may improve by shifting through to third before going to fifth. What RPM are you shifting to fifth at. You may be lugging in fifth by being out of the powerband slightly and therefore using more fuel. Same goes for down shifting. There is a reason for having those five gears after all. Good luck, glad you're keeping the car! JIM

I have just got my 2.8 and have been thrashing it round about where I live all weak and I have to say I'm really pleased with my mpg, only filled it up when I got it and still have half a tank left!!

Watch out for the Z3 fuel gauge. The second "half" of the gauge isn't equivalent to half and tends to drop rapidly.

My 2.2 will show 150 miles on the trip when it gets to half but the light comes on around 230 miles...

Ok. Gaz, your rule applies if the tank is half empty, but not if its half full =))=))=))

Come on, you know what I meant.... ;)

Had a drive to the Haynes Motor Museum today and my fuel light came on at 254 miles. I stopped at the next petrol station at 262 miles and could only get 41litres in, so I must have had 2 gallons left in the tank?

Pass, float the next question please?

My 2.8 auto is used for everyday driving. Around town, I doubt it returns more than single figures. That is because it is in first or second gear. Once the car gets into top gear, at about 55 mph, the consumption is much better.
Plan ahead. Use a light right foot. Accelerate gently. Brake gently. What is the point of driving a Z3 economically?

Hi that would be so sad to get rid of her, but I understand your position, my 2.8 does around 33/37 mpg. Which I think is good for such a big lump :)

I think the air filter may be helping reduce MPG It's an open cone filter with no intake so I'm assuming is sucking in hot air which is of course not good!
