I've always found a carefully placed screw driver, at just the right angle, then smash it with a hammer seems to do it.
In all seriousness, I'm not entirely sure it is possible, I've not tried but when I head into the ZedCave tomorrow I'll have a look at one.

I want to copy the sequence of the pins on another cylinder which I will fit in my rear storage console and I'm afraid of damaging the glove box lock

The last one,, which was much larger, took two months so should be here by Xmas JIM

One of the springs has popped out of the handle of my glovebox and one of the two bars that it pivots on refuses to budge, so I can replace the spring. So if the barrel can be removed, I'll be looking to buy a replacement. Cool story bro... =/

Hi guys, sorry the manual says nothing at all about how to remove the cylinder. Hopefully someone will be along shortly to help. JIM

HT beat me to it but I think that is the American version - I think you have to scroll down to other version.
It's in the TIS - RA5116340 - You have to hold assembly in vice and drive out the pin while holding the key in the assembly to stop it falling apart.
I've not got time now but I'll try and copy text tomorrow if nobody else can access it in meantime.

I used a hammer and a nail to drive the pin out to separate the handle
Prise the four clips that hold the cylinder in place with the key in the lock so the tumblers don't spring out
Slowly remove the key, then note down the tumbler #s in sequence
Tumblers inserted into the new lock cylinder and taped up ready to fit in to my rear storage box (when it arrives)
@David It took a lot of force to get both pins out, I can only recommend a long nail and a hammer

Thanks Ash, I had presumed that the two pins did not actually meet in the middle, and had a bit of plastic between them? Presumably not then??

Genuinely hoping Ash can confirm this for me, before I take a hammer to it. If it took a fair few wallops with a hammer, perhaps the plastic had been pierced. (I daren't say "penetrated" on this forum...)

I think some previous owners tried the hammer and screw driver method to mine at some point and I'm now left with this!

You couldn't bring yourself to say penetrated yet this you think is okay?? Who knows where this could lead? Stick with the lock cylinder please!!
