Went to look at a nice individual Z3 today, leather shows some signs of damp and is in need of a full restoration, paint similar, but then I saw some rust on the sills. Am I right that much like my previous BMW rust experiences, seeing some rust means there’s a load more you can’t see?
Not sure I can take on restoration right now. The spec is great but shagged doorcards, leather, paint in need of rescue, and then sills. What do you all say about the sills?? Thanks!

If not been checked/treated before it's likely that the structural inner sills will need some work.

Reminiscent of my E46 Alpina experiences!! Bloody sills. It was a lovely car (past tense) but I think too much work for me right now.

Can you do a step-by-step guide to sill removal? I'd like to try it but want all possible info first.

Here you go mate 👍

Thanks Iain and especially Andy; that's perfect.

You may need an 8mm 1/4 drive socket ground down slightly so that the socket can grip a very shallow 8mm headed bolt.

Tony.
