Can anyone recommend a good non-adhesive dashboard mount for my Satnav? I have looked at the rubber mat type that the original windscreen mount fixes to, do these stay on the Z3 dashboard without moving? I have a 2001 2.2L Sport.
 
I use the fitting that clips into the air vent.
 
I've tried two different types of air vent mount, I always use them on my everyday Mazda hatchback, but with the tilting air vent louvres on the Z3 I find they are unstable, and I'm afraid I've never liked the windscreen mount as it puts the Satnav too far away, making it difficult to reach. I'm particularly interested in one of the mat type that just sits on the dashboard and wondering if they are stable on the sloping dashboard top of the Z3..
 
I've just ordered one of the Garmin ones as Halfords have it for half price at the moment. I'll let you know how it works.
 
I do like the CD slot holder. I wonder if you can still play a CD while the mount is in the slot.
 
I have a Halfords stick on one in the zed. Cost £4 I think and it's great. The plunger never comes unstuck although it does regularly in my daily driver on the windscreen. I'd get one for that too but there's nowhere suitable to stick it.

Off till the 3rd Jan mate. We shut down completely. It's lovely after working on the food chain for years and getting only Christmas day off.
 
My satnav fits to the screen on the right hand side of the steering wheel around the area of the right hand vent easy to access and does not obscure your view
