Hi all,

I‘ve acquired a replacement sill trim for the nearside of my recently purchased 2001 Z3.

Both sides were loose and not properly clipped in place.

Question is should the sill trim fit behind the door seal / rubber re or sit up against it.

Ive got the original clips, I'm wondering if these are worth replacing despite being all in once piece as I’m puzzled as to why the trims were loose….

Hi Bigfella, The trim piece just tucks underneath the soft rubber door seal, flush against the vertical steel sill.
You will see that the clips are held capitive in 'channels' on the underside of the trim. Check that these are not broken and hold the clips firmly in place.
No need to replace the clips if they're not broken.
There is (or should be) a narrow rubber strip along the underside outer edge of the trim, held in place by double sided tape. If that is missing or incorrectly fitted it could cause the trim to not sit down properly.
Hope this helps,
Peter

Thanks Peter, much appreciated. Mine seem to have been refitted incorrectly at some stage and sat on the outside of the door trim rather than tucked under it.
