Space saver wheel.

Hi All. As part of my efforts to bring my Z out of retirement I had a look at my spare today. I know there have been some dire photos posted in the past but I feel too ashamed to publish mine .It is bad,really bad. I need to replace it.
Did I read somewhere on the forum that a spacesaver from a 3 series will fit as there are one or two on e-bay at the moment.

Hi thanks for that.That is interesting as mine which by the state of it must be the original is a 15 in showing 125/90/R15. However by my calculation the rolling radius is about the same.
Have pulled out a BMW wheel fitment guide and it appears that all the three series 5stud wheels have a PCD of 120 and a bore of 72.6 the same as the Z so there is probably plenty of choice.

I just got one for mine of eBay as like yours mine was in very bad shape, I could literally hit it in the cenyer with a hammer and it would go right through it was that rusty!! Haha I bought it with a jack as mine was missing, only 50 quid

Hi Pete,yes sounds like mine.There's quite a few on at the moment all in that sort of ball park but not with a jack so you did good.

Yeah just got the same size, why are you doing that? Just for aesthetic purposes?

There's never anything in my boot so it seems a good idea.No hassle if I ever need it and well protected.Yes and looks better too.

Fare enough! Yeah it would look better, but I use my boot!

Just a thought, I got caught out a few years ago when my old E30 had a flat tyre and it turned out the wheel bolts were too long for the steel spare (fitted fine in the alloys that were on the car). The bolts were catching on the caliper, damn glad I noticed before I tried driving away. Worth checking before it becomes a problem, punctures never happen at a good time.

Wow thanks for that.Sounds strange why that should be never heard of it before.Must have been quite a bit too long if they were catching on the caliper. Will certainly check it out when my new spare arrives.
