I was planning on completing the installation of my roll hoops today on my 1997 z3, however, very close to the end and I got the rubber base on the wrong way round.

My issue is that the roll Hoop that I'm trying to remove will not move more than 2 inches. The one on the passenger side slides in and out easily. There aren't any screws that are preventing me from removing the hoops. I literally slid them in and then tried to remove them, one came out and the other one is stuck. What to do?

Im fitting hoops to a car that came with no hoops. I've not put any bolts in yet to secure the roll hoops. It's just stuck. Weird.

What a shame Faheem when your so close to completing your project my only advice is WD40 and another pair of hands to help you pull.

theres not any bolts in at the sides then, when i fitted my hoops there were bolts already in the side holes

If none of the 3 torx bolts are in then it's just pressure holding it so you need to go eat your weetabix and go big and give it another go!

I've mine in and out a few times and sometimes they can just be hard work. Rubber mallet might help.

Thanks Steve. It's an absolute shame :( last week I spent the entire day swapping the locks over and today it looks like I'm going to spend t he rest of today trying to get the Hoop out. It feels like I can lift the entire car with that one Hoop though. It will not budge.

Would you say to get the hoop in you had to apply pressure squeezing the shafts together if so may be you need a strap to apply that same pressure.

You need to man up pal, :D, just get mad as hell, shake it whilst pulling up, it went in so will come out.

I was worried that I'd damage something.

It came out in the end but it took the cap that sits on the seat belt dispenser with it.

Anyway. I need to know which screw goes where. There are two types of torx screws, small and big, which goes where? (I'm talking about the screws that secure the roll hoops)

Also how do I get this cubby back in?

The bracket at the back doesn't seem to want to stay in place.

The little one hold the big heavy strange shaped inner mounting unit in place (including just behind the carpet).

The big ones (3 per hoop) hold the hoop in place.

The cubby hole is a pain in the arse to re-fit - good luck with that!

Thanks :) Looks like I may have a few extra small ones then.

As for the cubby hole, I'll probably use bluetack to stick the bracket to the underside of the centre console and then push it into the bracket
