Bloody typical - I was after a set of these for the 3.0i Sport I recently sold and couldn't find any. If I was nearer Bristol I'd have had these in a shot :bashhead:

I'd bet that close to 50% of cars on this forum have got BBS wheels on

Gosh, it's so annoying! I take that's on Facebook?

There's no way I will ever support/be part of anything owned by Meta, but I've seen people post some pretty good deals advertised there only, it seems. Why, oh, why Facebook?:grumpy:

Many genuine BMW wheels have been produced by BBS, definitely one of the best manufacturers for wheels 👍

Facebook yes - suspect more and more people are using Marketplace because they charge no listing or commission fee's unlike other auction sites.

I appreciate there are a fair amount of fraudulent listings on Facebook but that seems to be no different when compared with the likes of ebay.

The only difference for me is that where ebay will help resolve any dispute you have with the seller Facebook won't - so for that reason I would be very dubious buying an item and having it delivered.

I'm sure BBS made the style 108's and 107's that I had on previous Z4's so I'd just assume they made the style 78's - I've never of or seen a fake set.

TBH until this month I'd not seen a set of 78's for sale under £800 - I guess timing is everything.

BBS did make the style 108 wheels for sure. I emailed them to get the correct torque for tightening the bolts which hold rim and barrel together.

Tony.

BBS Manufacture wheels for many companies, but BMW do not make wheels! They buy them from various companies, depending on price. Most Z3 wheels are made by Chromodora in Italy, a well-established company who- like mot Italian outfits, cannot stick paint to metal . . .

Still to this day majority of manufacturers do not make their own wheels they may well design the style but production outsourced
Ronal is a wheel i see all the time of a number of manufacturers heavily on Vag group also on Bmw and Mercedes models to name a couple.
Stephen.

I was once told by a BMW marketing man that their wheels only have a life of ten years, which seemed to be pretty pessimistic. The wheels on our Golf TDi where made in Birmingham, by Team Dynamics - the same wheels used by the Rover group - and after 23 years and 240,000 miles their paintwork is still like new - in fact, the only marks on them were caused by tyre fitters!

One of my style 78 wheels (presumably around 22 years old and a lot older than its 10 year BMW marketing life) has slight pitting in a couple of areas that shows through even after a repaint.. Is there anything that can be done during a refurb to sort this out?
