hi all, please can anyone tell me if my 2000 Z3 will have Electr. Tacho pulses? and where I would pick up a Speed Signal wire to tap into ?

Thanks,

Tony.

Electr Tacho pulses?? I'll have another Stella please:cool:

I wondered if he'd had one or three too Garry. I'm looking at a HUD display from a German seller.

It projects your speed onto the windscreen so you can see it without looking down.

It's a Z Tony, not an Apache attack helicopter mate!! =))

Off the top of my head I think it does @t-tony, we can put our speedo head in to test mode and it show the car speed in a digital format, let me have a look.

There is a speed sensor on the back of the diff @t-tony, this reports to the instrument cluster. From memory it is a two wire connection. HTH

Are your eyes stuck? Try some lubrication in the corner of each eye and a yank with a crow-bar to get them moving up and down =))

Tw#t! =))

I have been toying with doing a heads up display on the quiet. Didn't want too many people getting excited. The line that comes from the back of the diff giving off the pulses you need. I suppose a good start would be pulling up a wiring diagram and see what code that wire is given and see where to tap into.

I just had a look at the speed sensor on the Diff Lee, easy access. If you can throw some light on this I would be grateful. I've made an offer on one already, awaiting the outcome. 3 wire connection shows kph and mph.

Thank you,

Tony.

Looking at my wiring diag the speed sensor output goes to the connector on the rear of the dash 12 pin rh side of dash pin 4 and pin 3 ground

There is also mention that there is a speed signal to pin 6 on the 20 pin connector. Pin 1 next to the alignment cut out and counting anticlockwise

Might be some help.
