The Old Girls Got A New Bonnet

Tonight the old girl received her long awaited replacement bonnet.
Not 100% but very nearly.
Off with the old with its pvc plaster and

Some adjustment required to close up the gaps but I'm happy as a pig in s**t

Those of you who have met the old girl will remember how the bonnet let her down well not any longer

was it much of a job to remove /replace? Just asking as I want to take mine off at some point so I can get it to @Sean d for some paint.

That must have an interesting job, how many pairs of hands involved or did you have a hoist or something?

Its not a long job but best done with three people. It can be done with two as my brother and I did tonight.
It's easier to leave the hinges on the car.
1. Disconnect the earth strap on the. nearside.
2. Remove the under bonnet linner using. a small pozi screwdriver unscrew the. little screws but don't remove the . screw then pull taking the rawlplug with the screw.
3. Pull the pipes off the windscreen jets.
4. Unclip this pipe from the bonnet
5. Call in your helpers one on each side.
6. Remove the top bolt on the bracket.
7. Now ask your helps to make ready for the weight of the bonnet.
8. Remove the last bolt on each side.
9. Help your helpers to place your bonnet. on the lawn.
10. Now put the kettle on for a job well done

Well yes but i was asked how easy it was to remove.
But of course if the bonnet is being resprayed the removal of the side grills may be necessary which is a pain to do. As are the front grills
 
I see you've got the front badge off how easy are they to remove as I could do with replacement
 
I've just replaced my front grills and yeah they are a right pain getting your fingers into free them up!

I found the easiest and safest way was to push it up from under neath you can see the pins when the bonnets up.

I tried that without much success so went for a screwdriver under the chrome outter frames.
 
The only downside to that is if your not very careful you could mark the paint. I suppose you could use plastic trim removal tools if you have them .
 
So what your saying Steve is that you started badge removal with finesse and ended up going with the brut force and ignorance option =))
