To Remap or not to Remap? That is the question!

As a retirement present to myself, I am thinking about giving Zelda a little remap for a bit more midrange and a few more m.p.g. She is a standard 2.8. I have heard rumours that some remaps may not give much improvement and that some can cause problems.

Can I have some input from those that have had remaps? Good or not so good!
I know mike F. is pleased with his.

Also any good wheel refurbers around Aylsham / Norwich area? My Alpina Softlines could do with a treat!

A few of us had ours remapped a couple of years ago at Evolve in Luton. Not a lot of gain, but the throttle response was certainly noticeable.Hard to gauge the economy as ours was driven mainly short runs (missus daily driver for work) but on long runs doing around 80 to 90 motorways returned around 30mpg
 
Every time I looked in to a remap I was told it was best to sort out induction and exhaust at the same time. How I used to mock my nephews and his tampered with Pugs. Never heard him laugh so loud when I told him I fitted an induction kit to my zed.

Mocking aside, a decent induction kit/air filter and a less restrictive exhaust will help too ;)
 
I had my old 2.0 remapped by a guy on the forum (Grimstead) and it had a noticeable difference as it pulled through the gears so I would say yea it was worth it.
 
Your better off spending the money on an induction kit and exhaust before a remap.. A remap on its own wont give alot more than a quicker throttle response.. You won't gain any mpg either.. Probably worse..

I had a 2.8 and messed about with it.. If I had another now I just wouldn't bother.. Leave the engine standard and buy a nice set of wheels etc...
 
Sorry mate, I know its a personal thing, but I cannot abide black wheels. Anyway, I have a set of original Alpina 20 spoke Softlines which I love.
