Hi guys

As many of you may have seen the post around the internet about this seal. On my seal the "grommet" hasn't become apart but there's a tiny gap like in this picture from the other forum's thread.
Many people fixed it with gorila glue and my question...do you just apply a thin layer between the "grommet" and the seal? Like on the inside of the walls ? Just trying to do this fix today after work so I just need to double check.
ps: I got a tiny syringe to apply the gorilla glue.

Many thanks everybody!

Rui

I just pushed mine in a bit and covered the top with silicone. it's never leaked since.

Have you got pictures of the result? Want a clean look for when the top is down and believe that silicone even black one will be messy wouldn't it?
Thanks

I'll see if I have one on my phone. If not it will be too when I can take one.

That Depends how neat you work.
You can stick some neatly cut rubber (like bicycle tube) over the silicone too for a clean finish.

That's ok then. Will be ok to have a look. I do have the glue with me and plan to do it at work on the workshop as is quite humid outside. If for some reason doesn't work I will try black silicone I just found it to tough to bond everywhere I used it.

Thanks

Lol! That's reminded me @Dino D! I have already stuck inner tube over the silicone after talking with @Lee as my roof starting leaking elsewhere. Adding inner tube pieces at the roof joints tensions the roof further helping to reduce leaks.

Off course over the years rubber shrinks but I am definitely not gluing rubber bits on the seals.
Btw gorilla glue reacts with water creating a type of foam and cured over night even being outside. It worked a treat and so far so good.

I used Gorilla glue the first time I did this repair about 6 1/2 years ago so not so bad but opted for silicone this time around.
Was it leaking again? Have you used the silicone just on the gap or you applied to the whole surface that then makes contact with the roof seal?

The bungs were separating again so this time around I coated about two thirds of the bung length leaving the thin part of it clean, placed it in the hole and cleaned up the excess with white spirit, if your care full you won't have to much mess and let it go off for an hour then applied a thin bead around the top and smoothed with a wet finger like you do in the bath room and left to cure over night with the slightly open. Then treated the rubbers to some gummifledge. More happier with this repair as I found the silicone easier to work with than the gorilla glue.

Thanks will see how it holds this winter even with the hardtop on because it can leak from the overflow channel and from the rubber seal from a pillar to seal on the hardtop/soft top. Thanks
