Water in footwells

Have just done the drivers seat bushes as per zroadster and found a pond in my foot wells. Back shelf is dry, roof been waterproofed so where? Water coming off the road or down the door windows? Door cards appear to be dry. Any drain points need checking?
Will try pour some water on the door and see what happens
 
I've split this post in to it's own thread.

Would suggest that it could well be the top of the a pillar where it meets the roof or the main rubber seals as they meet the windows. Worthwhile sitting in it while someone sprays a hose over the area and see if any drips come through.

If it's the a-pillar, there is a guide I can link you too. If it's the rubber seals then rejuvenating them with something like Gummi Flege (German for rubber care) should soften them up and allow a better seal.
 
Mine have been really good til about a month ago ,lucky it was a simple fix and the leak is no more.the little bung at the top of the a pilar had become un glued in a couple of places ,I actually tried to make the hole as big as possible cleaned and dried it with a hair dryer got some bike tube glue carefully put a little in the hole let it almost dry and stuck it down,worked for me easy

Water ingress is a tough one as there are several areas where it can find it's way into your interior. Make sure the drains on the bottom of your doors are clear as well as the ones pointed out by Hugh. Also the drains just behind the door opening can become plugged . Also your heater core or A/C could be the culprit. JIM
 
Thanks. Had an Alfa where the hose emptying the vents in front of windscreen perished and all the water came into the cabin. Feels like similar given the amount inside. Haven't done the hose pipe test yet but did drive in the rain Saturday with no obvious water coming over the windscreen or side windows and the rubber seems good. May be that water was there already. Only owned few months and was parked outside by previous owner
 
Are there drains taking water from the side fixing of the roof. Seems I can get my fingers between the roof fabric and the rubber trim on the sides so water will be going down there? If so where do I start looking for the drains? Is this the drain mentioned behind the door?
 
Yes, those are the ones @RFC1. Compressed air seems to work the best for those just a bit awkward getting to! Good luck! Might be a good idea to pull your carpets and shop vac the water in the insulation under them as they can hold a tremendous amount of water, then put a small heater in to dry them completely. HTH. Yup! Just think how much more is down there. That's were the wet/dry vac comes in handy. I believe @BMBabe holds the record presently, too bad you weren't measuring what you removed could have been a new record!! Perhaps @GazHyde can recall the amount? JIM
 
Another thing can be that the bungs in floorpan that can be dislodged by a speed bump scrape etc.
I think it's one on each side.
Not so common but does happen.

A tell tale sign will be dirty water in the carpet from the road rather than cleaner rain water from roof/window leaks.
You just need to look under the car to see if these are are secure or not.
 
The other place known to leak is from the front scuttle and around the heating fan, there are some drains under the black front trim which can block up and allow water to find it's way into the car.

Also if the membrane behind the door card isn't fixed all the way round it can leak at the bottom but won't make the cards wet.
 
I experienced the same, water in passenger footwell during heavy downpours. Just cleaned the drain hole on the top, where the roof meets the windscreen with a thin wire with plastic tape around it and cleaned the dirt out. Now it's fine.
 
Thanks all. Going to take everything out this weekend and then try a hose pipe and tissue papers
