Where is 1997 Z3 1.9 obd2 socket

Hi All anyone got an idea where the diag obd2 socket is on a 1997 z3 1.9

Under the bonnet next to the coil pack drivers side

In the engine compartment, there isn't one inside the car just the 20 pin round one under your bonnet!

Hi Dave

I'm a novice here but on my 1999 1.9 the socket is round one located in the engine bay on the left by the suspension strut.

Thanks - was done based on @zedonist 's suggestion when I had the cover off to rejoint. 2 coats of VHTemp red, which actually comes out with an orangey tinge, followed by 2 coats of top coat. It has dulled slightly but otherwise seems to be holding up well.
