I'm looking at purchasing a wind deflector for the roll hoops that I've now fitted to my zed, which is better, the netted version or the perspex?

Ive seen one on ebay which is apparently missing some screws, what screws might these be?

Net is better than perspex in terms of keeping wind out of the cabin, but perspex offers better visibility. I had both for my Z3, and would generally run with the perspex.

But if you have neither, then either will be better than nothing!
 
Hi @Faheem the screws it mentions are probably the extended locating pegs for the Tonneau cover. There are two keyhole shaped holes in the wind deflector which locate over the two pegs behind the roll hoops and need extending if you fit the tonneau cover as well. They can be got elsewhere called 'Tenax' screws.
I have a perspex one if you want to try it sometime.
 
@GazHyde I do like the look of the perspex a lot and up till now I've never used a deflector of any sort, so really any deflector will make a massive difference.... I've driven into three figures with the roof down and no deflector and it does hurt =)) buttttt, I feel that it would be easy to get tiny scratch marks all over the perspex.

@Brian4 This deflector is being offered to me for a cheapish price and I was wondering whether the missing tenax screws would be expensive -- how easy is it to find the right type?

Years ago I had incredibly easy access to a laser printer capable of cutting acrylic/perspex to any size, unfortunately I don't any more :(
 
@Low Rider Thanks Steve. Not worth buying it just yet then, I thought I'd stumbled on a bargain but the price of those screws (P&P) combined with the cost of the wind deflector brings it to the price that you can usually find them on eBay for.
 
It's only two screw @Faheem so not very expensive in the overall costs. I have the mesh type but tore a hole in the centre section but even just having the bars covered kills a lot of turbulence. I have another that @BMBabe is babysitting for me along with some other parts and hopefully she'LL ship them for next years cruising. JIM

Have you checked you might already have the screws fitted.
IMO the wind break is a good buy as it includes postage

I doubt if any of the wind deflectors advertised will include the screws so add the same price to all of them so still a relative bargain.
 
I don't know what you think is expensive @Faheem but are you going to go without a deflector for the sake of a few €'s? If the deflector is under £100-120 go for it and get theTenex screws,, I'm ordering a set of screws myself as trying to get them here is fruitless. JMHO JIM
 
You can use tie cable ties or Velcro tie wraps to keep it down until the screws arrive (or in my case I remember where safely stored them!).
 
Good one @Faheem I don't have the longer screws and just received word that they don't ship to Canada. My deflector is held on by the original screws and never had a problem with it lifting. Great price on the net you've bought makes buying the screws that much easier!! I'' sure you'll appreciate The difference, JIM
