I was driving home in the rain today and was using the wipers

I was switching quite a bit between off, stage 1 (intermittent) and stage 2 as the conditions were changing alot

Then after around 25 mins of driving the wipers parked themselves and would not come back on, I tried all positions on the lever
Unhelpfully the washers still worked but the wipers did not activate

I pulled into a side road and turned the car completely off, forgetting to turn the headlights off, so the buzzer sounded, however instead of its normal longer buzzes these ones were much shorter than normal and a bit less regular.

Then after switching the car back on, the wipers were working again, but after 5 mins of driving using them they stopped working again.
Luckily I was very close to home at this point

To clarify, there were no warning lights on prior to this event.
Battery was measured as soon as the incident happened at 100% charged (via phone app)

Any help with the issue would be much appreciated

Thanks, Chris

I had something like this happen last summer. I had been driving in very heavy rain and through a very large puddle that I couldn’t avoid. Shortly after, the wipers started to only work when they wanted to. I tried all sorts of things. Switching off and on again, replaced fuses. I thought it might have been the stalk that was the problem, but eventually later that day it just started working properly again and hasn’t played up since. The best advice I can give is just to never drive in the rain😀
