Afternoon all...I decided to tackle a broken door handle for once...I previously fabricated a bracket which has served me relatively well (still wobbles)...but when I see door handles going for about 500 quid each ! I think I might leave it..has anyone had any success repairing handles? Cheers...

Ask @spurs fan in a coupe if he has door cards or the handle. There are door handles and door cards on eBay for a hell of a lot cheaper than what you’ve been looking at if Andy can’t help you out.
cheers...I've been on Ebay...Passenger handles I found for about 80 quid ..Drivers ones averaged about 400 to 500 quid..found one that was 795 quid!

I don't have any pictures I can find but, I did use epoxy and washers to build up the areas that were broken on my driver's side door handle. That was over a year ago and so far so good.

cheers Rudyrov....yeah I previously smothered the broken plastic captive recess with glue then made the bracket..it works but just feels a bit loose..think I might have to do something similar...now if someone could 3D print a proper one ! 😃

There are full door cards with handles from £80 -£120 on ebay. I may even have one when i get around to fitting my replacement door card. I have only had it 2 years!

I looked and all the DRIVERS door ones had the handles missing..passenger door ones yes..driver door ones are as rare as rocking horse doo doo..

you must have read my mind...I found that very one about 15 minutes ago...that was the only one I could find..It's a decent panel..but the insert on the Fiji Green Zed is different..if I could swap that out I'll snap this up !.. cheers for looking !!

As mine is the Fiji Green, it has this bluey chintz door panel..if I can swap that out to a new panel then it's a winner !

I have a black drivers side panel with perfect handle, £100 collected or £115 inc post.
Has the leather "ostrich" skin insert.
I clip unglued but all others present, from a retrimed rebody

I can supply a pair if you want.

I also have a pair in that most desirable of colours "hearing aid biege"

cheers mate... I have one in reserve on Ebay but before I bite the bullet I need to look at the inlay... as I need to be able to swap that over to match the other door... but I might take you up on the offer if all other avenues fail me !

The trim panels have plastic rivets that are melted over, you would have to drill or cut them off, this would probably leave the trim panel prone to coming off at a later date.
I would either hang on until you find one in the correct colour or buy a matching pair in black and then sell the passenger green one on.

Thanks !... yeah as these inlays are quite rare, I don't want to bugger it up !

I would leave the inlay well alone too, what part is actually broke, as i thought it was just the handle part you are after!

it is....but I seen other door cards in better nick than mine...but like you suggest I might leave well alone..

New handles are £395 new from BMW.

I sell decent used ones for £100 (drivers) and £60 (passengers).

I've got a couple of passenger ones here.
