Hi All,
I have been meaning to post this thread since we returned from Jack Smith Trimmers, where we got a new hood installed onto our Z3 (aka "Ziggy").
Martin's work was excellent. We saw where he makes the hoods himself. He offered us several colour options, but my wife wanted to keep the original black (blue might have looked good also on the Atlanta Blue body colour).
We had travelled from Dublin via ferry over to Holyhead and a four hour drive down to Swansea. As it happened I had a business meeting in the city and we managed to get both tasks completed and headed home via the Snowdonia mountains the next day.
If any of you are thinking you need a new hood, I couldn't recommend these guys more. Quality and pricing was super.

Looks great. My next job is a new roof, and I really like the idea of going for a dark green roof instead of black.

My E46 convertible many moons ago was Oxford green, with a green roof.

I was looking at roofs though and got overwhelmed with the options, mohair, pockets etc... Plus was hoping to find someone in Scotland, but a trip to Swansea could be fun!

How long did it take and what was the cost? Contact details?

I could do with a new roof cover. I actually have a spare roof, but I'd rather have the ciurrent frame re-covered.

Sounds like a top bloke on the phone, have booked mine in for the end of January, they are very busy!! Gives me a chance to tie the trip in with visiting family etc.

But the pricing is awesome, £380 for a black roof, and £400 for the green! He said it would just take half a day.

Here is a link to their Facebook page!

He doesn't seem to be answering his phone at the moment..Does anybody know if

1) He offers a hood with a zip in window.. (So I can replace the window myself in a few years time)

2) My Z has a lining in the hood...Can he produce a hood an reuse the lining?

From Memory I think that he is a one man band, phone in the evening, I also think that he does now offer zip in window and yes he did mine with a lining. Geoff

Hi Guys, apologies, have been off the air for a bit.
Yes he is a one man band, and I agree with Geoff, just keep calling until you get him.
Liam.
PS, a few months in and the roof is working a treat...no leaks!

From what I've heard and read, yes it does cut out a lot of noise. My 2000 Z3 had a lined roof and it was almost like riding in a normal car on open roads.

Tony.

Talking of lining - is it possible to retro fit lining? Is it just cosmetic or does it cut out some noise?
I have had one without and my current z3 has lining. It is better with the lining. Noise warmth feel in the cabin etc.

Yours was waiting to be collected when I dropped mine off! 👍

Also, I think you’ll find Ziggy parked outside whilst Martin was working on mine in the 2nd pic! 🤣😂🤣👍

If I had kept my Oxford Green Z3 it would’ve ended up with a green roof.

Tony.

Looks great..Mine is a Titan silver paint with black interior...cannot make up my mind as to whether to replace with black as original or a dark blue hood? Any thoughts?

If it had blue interior then I would use a blue roof, but as its black, I would stick with a black roof. Just my choice though.

Tony.
