Hi all

This has probably been asked before but will z3m alloys fit ok on my 2.0 facelift on standard msport suspension

Will they fit...any issues..clearance ...any photos showing the line up of the rears with arches

Thx in advance

Why wouldn't they fit. The suspension layout and the body shape is the same, isn't it?

The rear M wheels will stick out the rear arches due to the low offset. There are 2 ways of running them, you either find 4 front sized wheels or find a good body shop to roll the rear arches out.

So it's going to catch on the rear is it Gaz
If I recall they don't catch, but they look ridiculous with the wheel that far outside the arch. Trying to find a decent picture of how it looks, but can't lay my hands on one.

So is it the rear suspension (shorter driveshafts? and different trailing arms?) or the rear quarter panels that are different?
I thought the rims were more inwards, not more outwards (but I can be mistaken)

Style 40 Roadstars, you can see how low the offset is on the rear. It's all about getting that deep dish on the rears!

Below: If you compare where the fronts (value in "Current" section) would sit against the rears (value in "New section), you are looking at them extending 52mm outwards. At a rough guess you are about 25-30mm outside the arches.

EDIT: Updated second calculation as I put the wrong size in :)

Does that confirm the rear axles are different?
Otherwise they wouldn't fit on the real M-model either.

Hi, as I understand it the rear axles are narrower on the ///M's to accommodate the low offset deep dish look. I guess it also answers why when looking at drive shaft part numbers for Lee, I found they are only used on the ///M's and no other BMW model (according to realoem that is!)

That would mean that the swingarms are different too.
Good to know.
Thanks for the information.

Back to the real topic then.
You did but in wrong numbers in the offset calculator (I think)
On my wide body 2.8 I have 8,5J ET41 rims at the rear (not 7,5J as in your screenshots).
and the second set of rims should be 9J ET8 (not 8,5J).

I didn't know what size wheels you had so compared the M fronts with the M rears. Didn't read that they were 9" on the back which makes them further out...

Your sizes

Yes rear axle on the M's is shorter mainly due to the different swingarms, body panels are the same as the prefacelift wide body zeds ie. 2.8. Some people have converted their non M zeds to accept the M wheels by replacing the rear subframe including the swingarms with one off a prefacelift narrow body 1.9 which results in bringing the track inboard allowing the M wheels to fit perfectly.

yalden had them fitted to his 2.0. They will go on but need stretched tyres fitted, pic below taken from another forum

His rear tyres were 205/40/17, the wheels will stick out of the arches but with stretched tyres you can make them look pretty good.

Yalden did more than just tyre stretch to get them to fit.
