Actually, I have found the problem! No fruit or vegetables involved!
Mrs Bonzo has gone away for a few days to catch up with her friends in the deep south, and as I was feeling a lot better after my serious medical condition I could work without the usual " There must be more some important things that you could be doing," remark. I took the engine cover off to be greeted by a ticking noise from the front coil pack. I disconnected the supply plug and the lumpy idle remained the same. So I took out the coil pack and found that the skirt around the contact to the plug terminal was split, I swopped the coil pack with the adjacent one and, hey presto, 6 out of 6 firing away as smooth as silk. Obviously the split skirt (visions of stocking top?) was causing a poor connection, which by luck, was not apparent on the plug it was transferred to. ( Don't you miss stockings and suspenders, and that gap of flesh at the top called the giggle zone? If you got your hand up to there, you were laughing!)
Sorry, my mind was wandering there for a moment. Ahem!
So, guess I'll have to invest in some new coil packs. Funny, but in a video link demonstrating this on youtube, the same cylinder had the faulty coilpack!
It must have been a woman who invented tights!!!

Glad you managed to rule out obstruction by fruit or veg, stockings,suspenders and mini skirts was next on my list too!
