Anyone running Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tyres on their Z3 (or Z4)?
 
I run them alround on my zed:thumbsup:
 
The zed drives striaght as a die on these the grip is supurb in cornering they feel almost sticky.
They are rated better wet than dry and for their cost are fantastic.:thumbsup:
 
Thanks guys, I'm changing my 16" style 64's to 17" style 44's and need to get a full set of tyres for the new wheels.. at present my 16's have conti-sports which I find really firm and I am conscious that lower profile tyres on the 17's might be even firmer.. I have heard that the Rainsport 3 is nice and grippy and has the added bonus of 'FR' (rim protection protrusion on the sidewall). They also come in both XL and non-XL (XL is a striffer re-inforced sidewall for heavier vehicles which I think my present contis must be) so I figure that by fitting non-XL versions might give me a more comfortable ride? Non-XL 225/45x17 Rainsport 3's are £58 each from Tyreleader..
 
Mine are 18's and looking appear to be xl but they are not crashy or harsh even on a 30/35 profile

Okay I'm convinced.. tyres ordered!! Being on a budget and being a car I only use occasionally I've always bought vgc part worns from a guy I know who imports them from Germany. I've found that tramlining can be an issue using tyres on a Z3 that have been previously used on another vehicle, so it will be nice to see what a difference it will make having brand new tyres all round..
 
I've had about 1000miles so far with no visable issues.
Mines lowered so the camber will affect the rear wear, as will doing donuts in a car park in the rain, but nothing yet :angelic::angelic:
 
No tramlining at all no vibrations the zed sits true 225's front 255's rears :thumbsup:
 
Good question Alan W have noted down the make for when I need to change, have michelins on from previous owner and have to say i don't have a lot of faith in them when pushing on. I like the comments from the other guys.
 
I gave these Uniroyal's a thought recently before I replaced my rear tyres.
But these are aysemetric so you can't turn them round on the rim to help even out the uneven wear,re how the rears wear faster on the inside edge.
The Hankooks I bought for mine have a traditional tread pattern so can be turned on the rim,which means a longer tyre life,which matters to me as the zed has covered 20k miles in just under 2 years.
But if you're not doing loads of miles it won't concern you I guess :).

Not trying to be negative by the way,I just think it's worth considering especially on the rears for a Z3 :).

Really good point. I only got these tyres because the ones I was gona get weren't available. There wasn't a picture of the Uniroyal so I didn't know they were asymmetric. I probably wouldn't have got them otherwise. I'm glad I did bit yet to see what the mileage is from the rears. I'd be happy with 6k or 2 years

I used to do this with the old Falken 452's. Doubled my rear tyre life from 6k to a nearly 12k miles!

You need to check if a tyre has an 'outside' marker too - if it does then you cannot so the side to side swap as you want the outside of the tyre to be on the inside when swapped. I found this out with my Nexen N8000 - they look like you can swap but as it has those markers I cannot.
 
So are there 3 types of tyres in all.. normal (put then on how you like).. asymmetric, and directional?

Had a look at mine,they just have direction markers so hopefully can be swapped round.

You only got 12k miles from your rears,I got 20k miles from my budget ones...........obviously I'm driving round like Miss Daisy :rolleyes:.
