Hi Guys.
I was hoping there might be someone with a little elec-trickery knowledge out there.
So i am planning on putting some Nissan seats in the Z.
My original seats are electric, up / down backwards/forwards, no heating
The seats that i plan to put in are the same.
The original wiring has power in the form of one connector with 2 wires, positive and negative i assume.

The new seat has one connector but the connecting plug has 4 pins and 4 wires. At a guess i would say this is 2 wires for each motor??

The other connector again i assuming is for the air bag which i obviously wont be connecting.

How can i check which is positive and minus of the pins. I was sure there is a way of testing resistance or something with a multimeter, and the resistance will tell you which is positive?
If all my vague assumptions are correct i am again assuming i can split the feed from the original wiring

Any ideas

Thanks

When you put your new seats in, you will need to compensate for the seatbelt pre tensioner a if you do not put them back in, the car will show and airbag fault without them. If you have a passenger side airbag you will also need to take care of the passenger seat occupancy sensor. The above items are not insurmountable but need a little thought.

With reference to the seat wiring, the switch on the side of the BMW seat is powered by the wiring you have identified. The switch then Is connected to the motors I.e. 4 wires. I do not know how your new seats moved backwards/forwards but I suspect it was from a remote switch? The simplest thing to do would be to use the existing switch on the new seats?

You will have fun getting around the airbag sensors. Might be an idea of getting the BMW wiring plugs then snip long wires to connect to the seats with heat shrink. Then when you put in the new ones you can just connect into the plugs. Easy to change back if you sell the car or change your mind.
